Abstract: | Faced with the dangers of economic instability from reliance on a single product (cotton) the Sudan has embarked upon a longterm development plan. The Plan covers the ten year period 1961-62 to 1970-71. Objectives of the Plan: To rectify certain imbalances in the economy and thereby to increade real income per head, strengthen the balance of payments position, create opportunities for productive employment and further improve social services. This note discusses the structural changes in the national production, reviews the investment and projects and surveys the prospects and the problems. Tables; footnotes. |
