Abstract: | It is directed by Article 62 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights (1981) that States parties shall undertake to submit every two years reports on the legislative and other measures they have taken with a view to giving effect to the rights and freedoms recognized and guaranteed by the Charter. This document contains the English and French text of the ‘Guidelines for National Periodic Reports’ prepared by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and presented at the Commission’s Fourth Ordinary Session, Cairo, Egypt, 17-26 October 1986. The guidelines refer to the form and contents of reports from States on civil and political rights, economic and social rights, peoples’ rights, specific duties under the Charter, the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination, the suppression and punishment of the crime of apartheid, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. |
