I Want to Be a Pilot. A Study on Hopes and Attitudes of Tanzania’s Schoolchildren

A study on hopes and attitudes of Tanzania’s school children. In an attempt to discover more about Tanzanian school children in rural areas, a pilot survey was carried, in 1965, out of 18 village schools (A survey of some Upper Primary schools by B. Erb and D. Daniels, Dar es Salaam, 1965). Over seventy American Peace Corps volunteers teaching the senior forms of Upper Primary schools throughout the country collected, over a period of several months, a variety of information about the backgrounds, attitudes, beliefs and aspirations of the boys and girls they were teaching. This article is based on the findings of the survey carried out by these graduate volunteers. Notes.
