Abstract: | After an introduction in which the author tries to define the concept of industrial sociology and its scope, he surveys in some detail the work already done in Africa which may provide the foundations for the development of industrial sociology there. Next he suggests new directions for research particularly concerning the problem of raising the production capacity of African workers. According to him the prospects for industrial sociology in Africa and the utilisation of its knowledge will depend on the establishment of a research centre attached to an African university. The primary goals of such a centre must be to pursue industrial sociological and psychological researches. A big number of studies by various authors is recorded in the article. |
