Periphery capitalist development: a case study of the Tanzanian economy

Purpose is to outline concretely the features of the ‘peripheral capitalist structure’ of Tanzania. To do this, the author uses available statistics, interpreted with Samir Amin’s framework of analysis. The article consists of two sections: 1) Tanzania’s economy: periphery development (foreign trade – the determining relationship); 2) Sectoral distribution of output and employment (three sector distribution – decline in agriculture – industry sector – service sector).
