Scultura shona o zimbabwana

Italian text. Sum.: What was usually called Shona sculpture is now better defined as Zimbabwean sculpture on account of the interethnic affiliation of the artists who are at its origin. These sculptors are the selected product of a Western scholastic methodology imported into Africa. The art expressed by Zimbabwean sculptors is not tribal art; it is an art pertaining to the broad process of development of modern art. The evaluation, therefore, must be made on the basis of the criteria of art criticism. Zimbabwean sculptors show themselves quite conscious of this reality as any other artists both from Africa and from other continents. Bibliogr., notes, sum. also in French.
