Abstract: | Maragoli is an area comprising two locations in the Kakamega District of western Kenya. After a description of the physical background of the area which supports one of the highest population densities in East Africa an attempt is made in this paper to distinguish factors which help to explain the pattern of rural settlement. Maragoli provides an interesting case study in rural settlement since it does not fit squarely into either of the main divisions of nucleation and dispersion. References; figure. |
