Abstract: | The selection of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja was primarily based on a memorandum, ‘The case for a new capital for Nigeria’, prepared by the author in September 1975, and an article written by him and entitled ‘Site factors in choosing a capital city’, which was published in the ‘Daily Times’ of October 28, 1975. The present article highlights the genesis of the new federal capital city of Abuja and appraises the current government programme for its future growth and development. Ref. |
