Abstract: | Aims to assess the market intervention capabilities of 6 existing organizations. Using interviews and observations of the functioning of the market for food and cash crops and animal by-products in the province, the effectiveness of governmental and semi-governmental interventions was examined in the light of stated objectives and goals. The 6 organizations have not been as successful in achieving their goals as originally anticipated, The study also suggests several ideas as policy guidelines to some of the constraints identified. Five appendices: Agricultural marketing organizations in Niger – List of acronyms – Interview questions (directors) – Idem (assistants) – Percentage of total millet and sorghum production for Niger from the province of Zinder. |
