Abstract: | Perhaps unconsciously. South African writers have turned their artistic talents into the literary exploration of the theme of time, relating the tyranny under which they live to that aspect of fate which is connected with time. Having been denied freedom in the space dimension, their other resort turns out to be the dimension of time. It is remarkable that so many of those who have regained their freedom by going into exile should yet tend to remain faithful to this theme in their post-exile work. Bibliogr., notes. |
